Our Mission

Rosie Nixon

According to the United Nations, the world’s population is growing by 83 million a year, which will result in a total of 8.6 billion by 2030.  Earth’s finite fossil resources will eventually no longer be able to meet the demands or even the basic needs of the population.

The current economy, fuelled overwhelmingly by oil, gas and coal, must be replaced by one powered by renewable biological resources whilst simultaneously allowing for adequate production of food and animal feed, and avoiding exploitation of resources and degradation of ecosystems and biodiversity.

This offers a huge opportunity for the bioeconomy making it an incredibly exciting time to be part of the industry.  However huge challenges exist relating to technological development, commercialisation, ethics, regulation and consumer adoption.

Bio Market Insights exists to accelerate the shift towards a commercially viable circular economy.

Launched in 2015 as Bio-Based World News with the clear aim of supporting the commercialisation of bio-based chemicals, materials and products, the industry has since matured and is evolving as sustainability moves further into the public’s consciousness and is increasingly influencing spending and investment decisions. Companies are now seeking wider solutions to create more sustainable, better performing products be it by biodegradability, recycling or by harnessing the power of synthetic biology, and to reflect this development, in 2019 we widened our platform and rebranded as Bio Market Insights.

Now the foremost, market facing global community for the bio-economy sector, Bio Market Insights connects policy makers, investors, scientists, academics, business innovators, and commercial brands and end markets. We deliver business, technology and market insights via a multitude of online media and global business conferences. Our network is made up of over 55,000 global decision makers focused on driving policy and scaling technology to enable mass adoption and large-scale commercialisation across the bio and circular economy.
