Policy Monitor: EU’s Circular Economy Package.

Last year, EU member states signed off on the Circular Economy Package, a suite of new laws designed to create a more resource-efficient Europe. The Package is intertwined with the EU’s updated Bioeconomy Strategy.

To be successful, the European bioeconomy needs to have sustainability and circularity at its heart. The Package, which member states need to incorporate into national law by next year, has been drawn up in order to help to drive the renewal of the bloc’s industries, modernise its primary production systems, protect the environment and enhance biodiversity.

Legislation within the bioeconomy is changing at a fast pace and sometimes it is difficult to keep track of what is going on. That is why we have launched a policy monitor page to track this legislation.

We have already tracked the European Commission’s updated Bioeconomy Strategy in our first policy monitor analysis. For Bio Market Insights’ second policy monitor, we will unpick the EU’s Circular Economy Package.
